Crosstown Rebels sub-label Rebellion welcomes back Senzala as he drops his latest EP, ‘Get Down’.
After his breakthrough in 2018 on Richy Ahmed’s FourThirtyTwo label, Senzala has continued to captivate audiences with his innovative soundscapes and hypnotising rhythms. Over recent years, he has showcased his talent via releases on labels such as Cuttin’ Headz, Stereo Productions, and Knee Deep In Sound, growing as an artist to watch in the global house scene. Now, making a triumphant return to Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion, he serves up four evoking tracks for a transcendent sound journey across his latest EP, ‘Get Down’.
“I made the release in the build-up to Day Zero Festival 2023. Damian played the tracks in the perfect setting, and they really worked on the dance floor. My inspiration has always been tribal and jungle influences - the tracks are intended to allow the listener to take a trip from reality into their own realm.” - Senzala.
‘Get Down’ kicks off the release with rumbling bongos and a glistening synth line, crafting an ethereal undercurrent while rattling hi-hats and tribal summons beckon the listener. ‘Scarlett’ then shifts the mood to something darker and spirited, as haunting calls and soundscapes enhance the tension. Next, ‘Obsidian’ draws for heavy low-ends and brooding synths, building to a peak-time production packed full of bouncing bass patterns, before ‘Chase’ lands with a mix of polished drums and off-kilter samples to close out the rich tapestry of mind-bending offerings.
